Special Education Needs
SEND Provision
Our SEND provision is built on the principle that high‑quality, inclusive teaching should meet the needs of most learners. Through our ordinary available provision, teachers use a wide range of strategies such as scaffolding, modelling, chunking tasks, and adaptive teaching to ensure pupils can access the curriculum confidently and successfully. For students who are working behind age‑related expectations, we offer supported groups where learning takes place in smaller classes with dedicated teaching assistant support. These groups follow the same curriculum as the rest of the school but with additional structure and guidance, helping pupils build core skills, close gaps, and grow in confidence while remaining fully included in school life. When a pupil requires more individualised support, our SEND team works closely with families and staff to put in place tailored approaches that remove barriers and enable every learner to thrive.
For pupils with more complex needs relating to cognition and learning, we are proud to offer our enhanced provision, The Hive. This specialist resource base supports up to 35 pupils who hold an EHCP with a primary need in cognition and learning. Places are allocated by the local authority to ensure that the provision is accessed by those who will benefit most. Pupils in The Hive follow a blended model of learning, combining small‑group, highly personalised teaching within the provision with participation in mainstream lessons. It is not a full‑time provision; instead, it offers the ideal balance of targeted support, structured teaching, and inclusive opportunities. This approach allows pupils to develop academically, socially, and emotionally while remaining firmly connected to the wider school community.
